WHAT TO DO

Polkerris has a soft and sandy beach suitable for all ages from toddlers to grandparents and many visitors choose to do little more than sunbathe, fish off the harbour wall and investigate the rock pools. For a more active holiday, the Polkerris Beach watersports centre offers RYA-recognised sailing and windsurfing courses, as well as kayak, windsurfer and sailing dinghy rentals. Full details can be found at our beach website. www.polkerrisbeach.com

If you wish to explore the local area you will find plenty to do.

Eden Project
The world-famous Eden Project is not far away. If you haven’t been there before, you will be amazed at how a big hole in the ground has been transformed into an amazing ‘experience’ that appeals to just about everyone in some way. If you have been there before, go again to see how much it has changed and expanded. Their ‘Eden Sessions’ Concerts are now a regular feature in the summer and can make a great night out. For further information, visit www.edenproject.com

Fowey
Fowey is a historic sea-faring town on the river of the same name, situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a popular yachting location as well as a commercial port. The town itself is packed with high-quality shops, pubs and restaurants and offers a variety of activities, including river trips, extensive walking and golf. Fowey is a pleasant 40-minute walk along the ancient Saints Way. For further information, visit www.fowey.co.uk

Daphne du Maurier heritage
Daphne du Maurier captured the imagination of millions of people with her books and did much to widen the appeal of Cornwall. She lived just up the road from Polkerris at Menabilly – the inspiration for much of her writing and Rebecca in particular – so you can walk the same walks and appreciate the same scenery. Each year there is a festival dedicated to her work. For further information, visit www.dumaurierfestival.co.uk
